Very often there is a deficit of bone volume for various reasons, which makes the conditions for placing implants more difficult, or less esthetical, especially in the frontal aesthetic zone. From that aspect, a procedure called bone augmentation is done getting bone volume through fixation of bone blocks, filling with artificial bone, membrane etc., thus creating conditions for placement of implant and tooth.
