Gingivoplasty or gingivectomy is a procedure for lengthening of the clinical crown of the tooth in order to establish a harmonious relationship and symmetry of the gingiva and teeth, especially in the frontal, aesthetic zone. Normally, the gingiva must be at the level of the neck of the tooth, but often it goes beyond it and covers part of the crown of the tooth, making it less visible and asymmetrical. In that case gingivectomy is a treatment of choice, with or without prosthetic treatment of teeth.
